The Natural Pattern of Spread- When this movie starts, malaria-carrying mosquitoes are scattered randomly across the countryside on all the people living there. It's almost as if they had been sprayed over the fields, swamps, and villages from a helicopter. The disease spreads quickly, and then the outbreak settles down, and a pattern begins to emerge...

You are given results from about 5 years of the disease cycle.

Here are some Questions to consider:
-Where does the disease die out?
-Where does it stay?
-What happens when the seasons change?
-Does the pattern of infection change from year to year?

Hint: Take a close look at the map of Cardoon's environment, and pick out some seasonal wet spots (green). Then focus on the changes around these spots as you watch the movie. How does one spot differ from another? Why do you think that happens?
