THE STORY: Welcome to the mythical land of Cardoon.

Do you hate mosquitoes? The people of Cardoon do. Cardoon is a parasite's paradise. The parasites lurk in the guts of mosquitoes that are infecting people with malaria left and right. How does malaria spread? How can we stop this epidemic?

THE PLAN OF ATTACK:

1. Go to "Model Mirrors " and "Making Movies" to get the know-how you need to begin the fight.

2. Check out each of the models (The Pattern of the Disease, Don't Shoot the Messenger, Bring out the Bednets, Kill the Messenger) to see how the disease spreads under different circumstances.

3. Then go to "Compare the Movies" to sleuth out the best course of action in the war against malaria.

4. Finally, in "Model it Yourself" you can explore the model we used by changing the variables.

 

 

The Mythical Cardoon: Cardoon has a warm tropical climate, so mosquitoes and the diseases they carry can live year round. Wetlands and settlements are scattered across the countryside. And there are two seasons, rainy and dry. When the rainy season comes the mosquitoes spread out beyond their cozy wetlands, looking for old tires, pots, and puddles to breed in.
